According to Bygrave and Zacharakis (2010) and quoting Joseph Schumpeter, Entrepreneurship can be understood as the process of changing the economy through innovation in products, services, production or organizational methods, to which we can add the component risk and uncertainty, reported by Dollinger (2003). The social entrepreneurs' aim of their activity, rather than generating income, is the contribution to solving the key problems affecting society, through innovative and effective solutions. One such problem is poverty, and according to the UNDP Millennium Report there are still 1200 million people in the world living with less than 1.25 dollars a day (extreme poverty) and things can go worse with the predictable increase in the food prices. Participants will understand the concept of social entrepreneurship related to poverty reduction, considering sustainable development, population increase, utilitarianism and the millennium goals and including how two different organizations, based in different continents, act in order to reduce poverty and help to achieve sustainability. Innovation in social entrepreneurship related to poverty reduction - an approach based in the social entrepreneurship considering sustainable development, population increase, utilitarianism and the Millennium Development Goals - will be explored and two case studies will be seen.
